presentation at Changing Spaces - Sharing my CoL inquiry

This year I presented at Changing Spaces with another colleague about Barriers in Reading.  It was a great way to share my learning around what the barriers in reading are, and get a snapshot of what the needs of teachers and learners are.  Such a great learning experience.  I realised when you begin presenting about something you are passionate about the nerves die and you the words just roll off your tongue.

Roadblocks are the Barriers in Reading

At Changing Space conference I used Roadblocks and Roadworks to talk about barriers in learning to read and strategies of how we can reduce these barriers.

Barriers in Reading - What are the road blocks?

Using 'A Moving Child is a Learning Child' I looked through what some of the barriers in reading are taking into account the whole child and how they learn.  Using a road block and road works analogy I have summarised what the barriers are that can act as a barrier to help a child learn to read.  I also shared this information at the Core Education Changing Spaces Conference.

What am I Inquiring into?

At our PLD this Term all the CoL teachers at Stonefields School had an opportunity to share their Inquiry for 2017.  I shared the 'why' behind my inquiry and what the data was showing in Reading for Y1&2 learners.  There is are range of readings that I am looking into which I shared the main findings and how they relate to our learners. My last part of the presentation was sharing what the barriers are that I am noticing and the strategies I am putting in place.  I am looking forward to continuing to share my learning in the Teaching Inquiry 2017.
